The G7X protrudes a little beyond the top of the main pouch. The top flap doesn't really have any padding to it, just a few layers of material. However unlike the 302, there is full padding on the sides (covering the top and bottom of the camera). The zipper-less top flap and wide mouth opening also make it pretty easy and quick to insert and remove the camera.

This case's top flap secures with a rugged plastic clip, as well as a strip of velcro. Using the velcro only method is handy when you want the top flap somewhat secure, but don't want to bother with the fully secure clip fastener. This can be convenient sometimes when you you're frequently retrieving and stowing the camera.
